Textlocal Campaign Raises £12,000 for Marie Curie

Marie Curie Cancer Care has revealed that its latest SMS fundraising campaign, for the Great Daffodil Appeal, raised over £12,000. The Textlocal-powered campaign enabled donors to give £1.50 using a shortcode and a keyword, from a series including CARE, DAFFODIL and LOVE, which appeared in a national press and outdoor campaign.

“We had over 7,500 responses to all the shortcodes throughout spring which was almost double the amount we received in the same time period the previous year,” says Rebecca Bednall, individual giving fundraiser for Marie Curie. “Allowing for a simple donation process is paramount for us as it eliminates any complex barriers for our supporters giving them a simple one-step option to show their commitment to the charity. Mobile messaging does this perfectly.”

The charity sees 100 per cent of all cash donated via texts, and will be able to claim an extra 25 per cent from the Government for all donors signed up to Gift Aid online.
