Twitter has redesigned its BlackBerry app to include expanded tweets, with detailed news article summaries and photos from sites.  Users will also be able find contacts from their device address book who use Twitter.

While there are a plethora of third-party apps for the social network, Twitters own apps still make up the majority of usage (77.3 per cent), according to a recent Beevolve study, of 36m Twitter users. And while BlackBerry comes far behind Android and iOS usage of Twitter, the majority of tweeters are young – probably BlackBerrys biggest market in the UK these days.

And while were at it, some other cheeky Twitter facts from the report: 25 per cent of Twitter users have never tweeted, the average number of followers is 208, but 81 per cent of users have fewer than 50. The US has 50 per cent of users, the UK is second with 17 per cent. Women tweet more than men – apparently tweeting about family and fashion – while guys tweet tech and sports.
