William Hill has recreated its popular sportsbook app for the Android platform, giving users access to live streaming, online radio content and push messages featuring new odds and offers.

Mobile has been growing significantly at William Hill in the past year and generated £40m of sportsbook revenue in 2013, or 39 per cent of total. Meanwhile, PC use for gambling with William Hill dropped below 50 per cent of online users for the first time. The company is offering a free £5 bet to all new and existing customers after they make their first bet on Android.

“The success of the iOS app has been breathtaking – reaching 1.5m downloads is a very proud achievement,” said Juergen Reutter, operations director at William Hill Online. “With Android now the biggest selling operating system in Britain were delighted our customers with Android devices can have the best possible user experience.”

In November last year, the company opened an innovation centre in Shoreditch where workers are focused on creating mobile products.
