woZZon Scoops Calling All Innovators Prize

Events Search Engine woZZon has taken the top prize in Nokias Calling All Innovators competition, which targeted talented UK developers and asked them to create the next big thing in mobile applications.
The idea behind woZZon is a simple yet effective one: to find out whats on near you. The woZZon search engine gives easy access to a database of 60,000 geo-coded venues and 90,000 unique events across 15 genres. The data is checked by editors daily to ensure accuracy, with events ranging from large stadium concerts and matches to local village hall gatherings.
woZZon wins a cash prize of 20,000 and a listing for the app on Nokias Ovi Store, as well as one years membership to Forum Nokia Launchpad. There is also the chance that woZZon will be preloaded on future Nokia devices.
We were looking for bold ideas from talented developers who could demonstrate a real understanding of what UK consumers want from mobile content, says Nokias UK Head of Services, Rupert Englander. The woZZon application stood out for its innovative geo-coded venues which tie to Ovi Maps, and the sheer volume of data accessible via the app. The app automatically charts your GPS position and searches for your chosen subject, so whether you are after a restaurant, cinema, Salsa club or gig you can find it via woZZon.
woZZon is part of the Science Navigation Group and a sister company of mobile mapping and navigation solutions company,Telmap.
