xiaomi mi 3Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has been barred from selling handsets in India for allegedly infringing upon Ericsson technology patents.

The ruling, made by Judge G.P. Mittal of the New Delhi High Court, prohibits both Xiaomi and its Indian distributor Flipkart from selling the companys phones while the court hears Ericssons complaint.

Xiaomi, which has risen rapidly to become one of the worlds largest mobile manufacturers, has already sold more than 800,000 units in India since its launch there in July.

Xiaomi, which was founded in 2010, has largely focused on China and surrounding markets, using low-priced handsets and Internet-focused marketing to rise to Chinas best-selling smartphone brand.

Its move into India is part of its first wave of international expansion, and the company has partnered with online retailer Flipkart to distribute its mobile devices.
