Phone manufacturer Xiaomi has partnered with Uber to promote its latest handset.
On 27 July, Uber users in Singapore and Malaysia will be able to order the Mi Note by selecting a special 'Xiaomi' option in the taxi app. Available cars will be marked in the brand's trademark orange, and users can pay with their Uber account to have a handset delivered 'within a few minutes'.
Remarkably, this isn't the only collaboration between a brand and a taxi app announced today. Starbucks has partnered with Lyft, enabling users to earn 'Stars', the currency of Starbuck's loyalty scheme, for every ride in a Lyft taxi.
The partnership also has perks for each company's staff. Drivers will automatically be made Starbucks Gold members, and will also be able to earn Stars for rides – and their passengers will even be able to gift a cup of coffee to their driver direct from the app. Meanwhile, the coffee chain's baristas will be provided with free Lyft rides to and from work.
