The UK accounts for 20 per cent of barcodes scans using the RedLaser app, according to research from eBay, making it second only to the US. 2m Brits have downloaded eBay’s barcode scanning app RedLaser, and up to 50,000 barcodes are scanned a month in the UK.
“Consumers are taking advantage of new technologies to get savvier in their shopping habits and seek out the best deals on the high-street,” says Angus McCarey, UK retail director for eBay. “Apps like RedLaser are blurring the lines between online and offline shopping, and mobile is not only generating sales, it is the perfect shopping companion for bargain hunters”.
