3 Turns to NeuStar for IM Rollout

NeuStar has revealed that it has helped UK network operator to bring the popular Yahoo! Messenger Instant Messaging (IM) service to 3s mobile customers in the UK. 3 chose NeuStars Mobile Messaging Gateway solution to implement the roll out of Yahoo! Messenger across its subscriber base.
NeuStar has a long-standing relationship with 3, having implemented the rollout of 3s popular Windows Live Messenger service in August 2006. In June 2007 alone, 133 million messages were sent across the 3 network via Windows Live Messenger.
Mobile IM is a technology whose time is now says NeuStar Next Generation Messaging General Manager, Allen Scott. Forward-thinking operators like 3 have seen the opportunity, seized it, and are reaping the rewards of additional data use and increased customer loyalty. The success of 3s Windows Live Messenger service prompted 3 to offer its customers additional IM solutions in this case, Yahoo! Messenger. We are pleased that the positive experiences 3 has had working with NeuStar in the past have enabled us to partner with them to further raise the profile of mobile IM.
NeuStar says it works with more operators worldwide than any other company offering Mobile IM services. The success of the Windows Live Messenger service on 3s network is further proof, it says, that mobile consumers will readily adopt familiar services that are easy to use and suitable for the mobile environment as operators make these services available.
3 launched Yahoos mobile IM service to its customers earlier this month, building on the success of its Windows Live Messenger service. Subscribers to the 3 network now will be able to send and receive instant messages free for life with any contract through the Yahoo! and Windows Live Messenger services.
