3G Vision Passes 120m User Landmark

3GVision, which specializes in mobile barcode reading solutions and image processing technologies to fast-track consumers and businesses to the mobile Internet, has revealed that more than 120 million mobile users worldwide are using its 2D barcode reader to shortcut to the mobile web on their handsets.
3Gvision describes its downloadable i-nigma as an end-to-end 1D/2D mobile barcode solution, incorporating code-scanning software for the phone itself, and an intuitive code-creation, campaign management and metrics reporting platform, to generate new revenue streams, track mobile advertising and create targeted, relevant and timely campaigns.
For mobile users, 3Gvisions barcode reader provides quick and easy access to rich content, coupons and online information without entering long URLs by hand or scrolling through web content thats not relevant to them. With the i-nigma reader installed, mobile subscribers use their cameraphone to scan or snap barcodes and the phones browser activates, automatically directing them to a designated website linked to the barcodes. Leading content providers and major advertisers such as The Sun in the UK, Gazzetta Dello Sport in Italy, Yellow Pages in Spain and Pepsi Max in UK are utilizing the i-nigma platform to push and track mobile editorial and marketing campaigns using barcodes integrated in outdoor advertising, in-store displays, newspapers, packaging and other media.
3Gvision notes also that i-nigma has been successfully deployed commercially by mobile operators such as Telstra, France Telecom, Claro, Hutchison 3, NTT Docomo and KDDI. 3Gvisions reader is pre-embedded as a native application by Telstra and France Telecom, as and by several handset makers.
Reaching this significant user milestone is yet another demonstration that mobile users around the world want fast and easy access to the internet while on the move, says 3GVision CEO, Mendy Mendelson. Furthermore, it shows how useful our technology is in helping mobile operators and leading content providers and advertisers create and run rich mobile marketing and advertising campaigns that generate additional new revenue streams and boost consumer loyalty.
