3GVision Celebrates Hungary Pilot Success

3GVision, which specializes in mobile barcode-reading solutions and image processing technologies for the mobile Internet, has announced the successful completion of its Mobilkod 2D barcode pilot campaign in Hungary. T-Mobile, together with Pannon (owned by Norwegian network operator Telenor), in partnership with Hungarian publisher Sanoma Budapest, chose 3GVisions i-nigma solution to power the campaign.
The campaign ran for eight weeks, attracting thousands of entries from magazine and website audiences. The promotion invited readers of popular magazines and online news portals to download 3GVisions i-nigma code-reader application onto their mobile phones, and then use the phones camera to scan 2-dimensional barcodes to link them to the mobile Internet to enter a competition to win a free holiday. Codes were placed in lifestyle magazines such as FHM and Cosmopolitan Hungary, and on websites including Startlap, StoryOnline and Vezess.
The results of the pilot met our high expectations, says Attila Vmos-Hegyi, Head of Department, Alternative Business and Corporate Development at T-Mobile. Just having a 2D code made it more attractive to consumers and created high awareness, because people were discussing it.
Moreover, in a difficult economy where every marketing dollar counts, advertisers and content providers are searching for ways to make their ads as impactful as possible to increase their ROI. The combination of innovative mobile technology, the visual stopping power of 2D barcodes, and the mobility provided by the operators is a compelling combination which advertisers are finding will boost advertising effectiveness.
