40 per cent of SMBs Use Mobile to Take Card Payments

40 per cent of small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) now accept payments using mobile POS systems such as Square or iZettle, according to a study from BIA/Kelsey. A further 16 per cent, meanwhile, plan to add this capability within the next 12 months.

Based on a survey of 568 companies, the study also found that 32 per cent are using some form of mobile advertising to promote their business, up from 28 per cent in 2012.

72 per cent of SMBs said that they use social media to promote their businesses. Facebook was unsurprisingly the most popular option, used by 52 per cent of respondents, while 25 per cent had a Google+ Local page.
