Gatwick Airport has revealed exclusively to Mobile Marketing that it took a long-term strategic decision to create a responsive website because of an increase in mobile users. This figure now stands at 45 per cent of total visitors.
Mandie Armstrong, digital communications manager for London Gatwick, told Mobile Marketing that consumers now get a seamless experience no matter whether they are on mobile, tablet or desktop, while staff use one CMS to deliver content to the site.
“The look and feel is a marked departure from our previous site – and other airport websites – and the end result is a clean, user-friendly design with improved functionality that has been driven through extensive user testing,” she said. “The responsive design also means that we can fully integrate our social media and marketing campaigns.”
Users can quickly check the status of incoming and outgoing flights, including being able to pin a journey to revisit later. The site also includes live maps with directions to the airport, which includes real-time traffic conditions and traffic alerts, along with car hire, parking and hotel booking.
The site launched today.
