This years BT Digital Music Awards will take place on 3 October at The Roundhouse in Camden, with Radio 1 DJ Edith Bowman presenting.
Members of the public can vote for the shortlisted artists in each category now via the Awards website. There are categories for Best Pop, Rock, Unsigned and Urban artist, as well as Best Podcast and Best Music Magazine. Our interest, though, is in the Best Use of Mobile Award, won last year by Natasha Bedingfield for a live concert broadcast from the ICA (Institute of Contemporary Arts), to mobiles on the 3 network.
Nominations for this years award are 3 Mobile/Sony BMG for Shakira: Hips Dont Lie; 3 Mobile & Planet Funk for the UKs first ever mobile-only single; Hard-Fi for its made-for-mobile video for Cash Machine; MTV for MTV Goes Mobile; and Thom Yorke for Moblip. Hard-Fis Cash Machine video is also nominated in the Best Innovation category. Both these awards are being judged by the awards judging team, rather than voted for by the public.
