Multichannel marketing firm Solocal Group has revealed that its dynamic appointment booking solution has hit the 50m appointment bookings landmark, since its launch in 2006. More than 20m of those were booked during 2014, with 33 per cent (6.6m) booked on mobile and an additional 11 per cent (2.2m) on tablets. An appointment is booked on the Solocal platform every two seconds, and during 2014, 10m texts were sent to users to remind them of upcoming appointments.

The solution enables appointments to be booked in real-time, 24 hours a day, with the aim of driving in-store footfall by allowing them to book an appointment at a time that suits them. 40 per cent of appointments booked on the platform are booked outside of store opening hours.

While the solution is used primarily by service businesses such as health and beauty salons, car repair workshops and financial services companies, it is also attracting interest from the retail community. In November last year, fashion retailer Oasis deployed the solution to enable its customers to book in-store shopping appointments with a personal stylist in 15 stores across the UK and Ireland as part of its ‘My Personal Stylist’ assisted shopping service.
