Weve taken a fairly comprehensive look at the dating apps currently out there – the good, the bad, and the funnybutugly – and, according to data from Flurry Analytics, theyre being used very regularly.
The people who use dating apps open them an average of eight times a week, for 71 seconds at a time. Users of dating apps for gay men, like Grindr, are even more active, averaging 22 uses a week, with each usage lasting 96 seconds.
However, Flurry says, theres something of an imbalance on the app dating scene. Based on the analysis of 20 top dating apps – with a combined active user base of 17m in January – there were nearly twice as many male users as female (64 per cent, as opposed to 36 per cent).
The genders are a little more balanced on iOS, where 45 per cent of dating app users are female, than Android. Android users are younger, however, with 38 per cent aged under 25, compared to 34 per cent – while iOS seemingly has the gray market cornered, with four per cent of dating app users over 55, compared to just one per cent on Android.
