Although 68 per cent of people have already tried to buy something using their smartphone, 66 per cent said they have had to abandon the process because of obstacles they have encountered.
Jumio and Harris Interactive surveyed more than 2,000 people and found that half of people do not yet feel comfortable with making a mobile purchase, 47 per cent are put off by the length of the process and 23 per cent found the purchase would not go through.
In its customer acquisition whitepaper, Jumio, a mobile payment validation service, suggests strategies like a ‘hold my basket for me’ function to ensure retailers do no lose a sale.
