Digital media company 7digital has launched a music app for Windows 8. Available for both the desktop and Metro Tablet versions of the OS, the app has been released as an early preview ahead of the full launch in October, and is the first digital music store available globally on Windows 8.
7digital enables users to choose from a catalogue of 20 million high quality digital music tracks, and listen to previews or purchase to be added to a cloud-based locker which can be synced between devices. It also features recommendation technology, and the ability to pin favourite artists and albums to the Windows 8 UI, and share them with friends.
“The potential of Windows 8 is huge. Microsoft’s renewed commitment to the Tablet space means there could be millions of devices in the market by the end of next year,” says Ben Drury, CEO of 7digital. “Developing the Windows 8 application early means we’re ideally placed to become the default digital music store for newly purchased desktops and Tablets, and compatible across all other platforms.”
The Window 8 app joins 7digitals portolio, which already includes iOS, Android, Blackberry, and Windows Phone 7 apps.
