80 per cent of Londons black cab drivers are now registered to use MyTaxi

MyTaxiDaimler-owned taxi app MyTaxi saw an increase of 150 per cent in app downloads last year, with nearly 80 per cent of London’s 23,000 licensed black cabs now registered to use the platform.

The app, which enables passengers to order licensed black cabs around the UK capital, added an extra 30 per cent to its customer base in 2017. Meanwhile, its B2B service is growing at a rate of 247 per cent year-on-year, according to the company.

“2017 was an exciting year for MyTaxi. We continued to grow through both a sharp rise in customers, and through a number of acquisitions across Europe which has strengthened our presence in the international taxi market,” said Andy Batty, UK general manager at MyTaxi. “We also launched an exciting new campaign in London to help upskill our drivers to ensure they continue to deliver a superior level of customer service.

“This year, we will continue our expansion and will launch the MyTaxi service in a number of UK cities. We will also continue to invest in new technology to ensure that MyTaxi is at the cutting edge in offering a safe, seamless experience for both drivers and passengers.”

Globally, MyTaxi carried more than 11m passengers on 76m journeys last year – an increase of 250 and 450 per cent respectively.

The company was founded in Germany in 2009 and merged with British taxi app Hailo in 2016 to form the largest e-hailing operator. This merger saw the MyTaxi app launch in London in March last year.
