80 per cent of tablet owners have used their device for shopping online, with 69 per cent making a web purchase at least once every month and 13 per cent saying they do so every single day.
EPiServers Mobile commerce: What Consumers Really Want report showed that fewer tablet owners use apps to make purchases, but 55 per cent still buy something using an app every month and11 per cent do so every day.
Mobile websites and apps are used every day by the majority of smartphone owners – 63 per cent and 60 per cent respectively – and 51 per cent now make a purchase every month. 8.4 per cent do it daily.
Apps are also used less frequently for puchasing on smartphones. 40 per cent use apps to make purchases on their handset every month, but the majority of smartphone owners, 41 per cent, have never purchased anything using an app. Reflecting the greater use of tablets for shoppng, 62 per cent of all mobile purchase are made in the home, while a third are done on public transport.
The survey of 1,000 UK smartphone and tablet owners found that the biggest annoyance for mobile shoppers using websites – cited by 49 per cent – is the loading speed. 48 per cent dislike having to navigate both horizontally and vertically to view the page, 37 per cent have difficulties logging in and 35 per cent see links that are too small. 54 per cent of users simply leave the site when this happens and 28 per cent go to a competitor.
