During 2013, 20m Brits will use a tablet on a monthly basis, according to eMarketer figures – more than one in three consumers in the UK.
This figures, notably, isnt the same as ownership, as it includes anyone who shares a tablet with family members or others.
By 2017, eMarketer believes that more than half the UK population will regularly use a tablet, with the increasing availability of low-end devices a major factor in this growth.
While the majority of tablet owners will remain in the 25-to-54 age range, the fastest growing audience for tablets is coming from outside of this – the 12-17 and 55-64 groups – causing the age distribution to normalise by 2017.
