A Third Use a Smartphone to Shop Every Week

The number of people who make purchases on a weekly basis using their smartphone has almost doubled since 2012, now reaching 32 per cent, according to an annual survey by eDigitalResearch and Portaltech Reply. A further 25 per cent make a purchase every month.

The survey of 1000 people found that 68 per cent now use their phone to help them while out shopping, a rise of 88 per cent. While 26 per cent of people said they would be happy to received personalised offers when entering a store, this rose to 50 per cent among weekly and monthly mobile shoppers.

For the first time, eDigitalResearch surveyed tablet owners and found that 79 per cent have used their device to make a purchase.
