Absolute Adds Audioboo to Iain Lee Show App

In a UK radio first, Absolute Radio has become the first radio stations to integrate Audioboos new plug-in architecture into one of its iPhone apps.

Absolute’s Iain Lee Show app, based around the radio show of the same name, allows users to recreate the magic and mayhem of the show with clips uploaded daily. The app is being updated with Audioboo functionality, which will allow listeners to directly engage with the show by recording themselves musing, ranting or declaring their love for Iain both for use within the show on air, within the app itself and online. The new app also allows users to interact directly with the show, with topics being discussed in the show sent to the app daily to provide a little inspiration for users to get in touch.

The Audioboo plug-in allows existing iPhone apps to include audio recording, with easy integration. “Ease of use for the consumer has always been our primary focus,” says Audioboo founder and CEO, Mark Rock. “Now were extending that philosophy to developers. Theres a whole bunch of clever stuff that we do – from memory management, audio compression and social media integration – that they no longer have to worry about”.

The plug-in can be used with the free service or tied into Audioboo Pro, which includes longer recording times and cloud-based moderation of content into channels. “Pro is all about allowing media companies to easily get user-generated audio content and then choose which go back into the app for playback”, says Rock. “Its already in use by The Guardian, BBC, ABC Australia and a bunch of Pro bloggers. Audio can be uploaded privately to be moderated, with named contributors being able to bypass that and go live immediately.”
