Absolute Radio Mobile Streaming Hits an All-time High

The Absolute Radio Network has recorded an all time high in its figures for mobile streaming, with users accessing 353,000 hours’ worth of content via mobile in November 2010,– an increase of 305 per cent on the corresponding month last year, writes Martin Conway.

In total, the network serviced 11.1m hours of online content in November, though the rise in the number of handheld listeners has taken Absolute Radio by surprise. “Mobile listening represents a huge area of growth for our digital music and entertainment radio brand,” comments Clive Dickens, chief operating officer. “The network now has a total of 20 mobile applications, including our latest, the Absolute Radio 00s App. These figures prove that our tech-savvy audience are migrating to innovative new mobile platforms.”

According to Absolute, 1.5m copies of its 20 apps have been downloaded in total since the network’s launch in October 2008, one example being the Baddiel &  Skinner’s Football Kit app, released to coincide with this summer’s World Cup.  The group has also been confirmed as an exclusive radio launch partner for the European roll-out of Apple’s iAd platform.
