Affiliate Window: Mobile Made Up 7.9 Per Cent of Online Purchases in April

May saw a drop-off in mobiles share of mCommerce traffic, for the first time in nearly a year, according to Affiliate Window. Smartphones and Tablets together accounted for 10.9 per cent of traffic, down from 11.6 per cent in April.

Thats not such bad news, though – thats compared to 2.4 per cent a year earlier, and the percentage of sales through mobile devices has actually increased, up to 7.9 per cent from 7.3 per cent last month. Given that the overall share of traffic dropped, this rising conversion rate – now at 3.1 per cent – suggests an improving mobile experience for consumers.

In terms of which devices are pushing mCommerce, it should come as no surprise that the iPad has taken a clear lead, accounting for 55 per cent of mCommerce sales so far this year. Thats continuing to grow week on week, jumping up to 64 per cent in the 23rd week of the year.

That growth is pushing down iPhone and Androids shares of sales, with iPhone dropping from 29.61 per cent in week 20 to 22.90 per cent in week 23, and Android dropping from 13.2 per cent to 9.7 per cent.
