For anyone who has been trying to access the site this morning and found it was down, can I offer a personal apology. With a new site comes a new server and a new way of doing things, and with that, sometimes, come issues that can bring it down, as happened yesterday for an hour, and again this morning.

We hope to get to the bottom of the problem today, so we can get back to business as usual. On a more positive note, we must say a very big public thank you to everyone who has been so complimentary about the new site since it went live over the weekend. It’s early days, and we have a lot more planned, but so far, the enthusiasts far outnumber the odd reader who pines for the old site where you could just sit and scroll down the page through all the stories, ignoring the ones you weren’t interested in.

Change usually screws things up for a while, but once we get over these initial hiccoughs, we’re sure you’ll find the new site, and all the other stuff we have planned, a massive improvement on what came before.
