Alphabet appoints Anat Ashkenazi as new CFO

The parent company of Google, Alphabet has appointed Anat Ashkenazi as its new Chief Financial Officer.

Ashkenazi joins the technology giant from pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly, where she was Executive Vice President and CFO.

She initially joined the company in 2001, before this she held a range of roles in strategy and finance.

She served as Senior Vice President, Controller and CFO of Lilly Research Laboratories. In this role, she oversaw the CFOs of the company’s commercial businesses, as well as those for research and development, manufacturing and quality, and G&A functions.

Meanwhile, in her new position, she will report to Google and Alphabet CEO, Sundar Pichai.

Commenting on her appointment, Ashkenazi, said: “Google’s growth and evolution over the last 25 years has been an incredible story, helping billions of people and millions of businesses around the world.

“Today, the opportunity for impact is greater than ever, and I feel honoured to be joining Sundar and his leadership team as they invest in the company’s future at such an exciting moment.”

Pichai added: “The AI era is giving us an incredible opportunity to innovate at scale across our core products. I look forward to working with Anat as we invest responsibly to support our next wave of growth.”
