Amazon EchoAmazon has introduced a way for anyone to create their own Alexa skills – without having to input even a single line of code.

With Alexa Skill Blueprints, people can create customised experiences for Alexa by filling in simple templates. These skills are designed for the user’s home and will only appear on devices registered to their Amazon account.

“Alexa Skill Blueprints is an entirely new way for you to teach Alexa personalized skills just for you and your family,” said Steve Rabuchin, VP of Amazon Alexa. “You don’t need experience building skills or coding to get started—my family created our own jokes skill in a matter of minutes, and it’s been a blast to interact with Alexa in a totally new and personal way.”

To create an Alexa skill, people can visit, where they will find more than 20 templates to choose from in categories including fun & games, at home, storyteller, and learning & knowledge.

Each of these blueprints comes with pre-filled content that can be used as it is or customised to suit the user. Once complete, the skill instantly becomes available on all Alexa-enabled devices linked to the user’s Amazon account.
