Amazon extends Prime Day for Alexa users, with early access and extra deals

Ahead of its Prime Day sale on 11 July, Amazon will give Alexa users access to exclusive advance offers.

Owners of an Echo, Tap or Fire TV product will be able to access over 100 extra deals in the run-up to the sale day, by asking “Alexa, what are your deals?” – which will also enter them into a sweepstake to win $5,000. Any purchases made this way by 9 July will also receive a $10 Amazon promo code.

Finally, Alexa users will also be given the chance to shop in the Prime Day sale two hours before everyone else.

“This is going to be the most exciting Prime Day yet for voice shoppers,” said Assaf Ronen, Vice President Voice Shopping. “Prime members have asked, ‘Alexa, what are your deals?’ more than 3m times since we launched Alexa deals last year, and we’re thrilled to deliver even better deals this year.”

Like Prime Day itself – which, after launching in 2015, became Amazon’s biggest-ever shopping day last year, and has now cemented itself as an annual event – it’s all part of an effort to push Amazon’s Prime service.

In order to make this easier, Amazon is also making it possible to buy a Prime subscription through Alexa, with the addition of a voice command: “Alexa, sign me up for Prime”.

Don’t forget to enter the Effective Mobile Marketing Awards. The Early Bird deadline for submissions is 22 July. More details here.
