Amazon launches live TV channels for Prime members in UK and Germany

Amazon Prime VideoAmazon has added a host of live TV channels to Prime Video for its Prime members in the UK and Germany.

Amazon Channels are available for an additional individual subscription fee, starting at £1.49 per month, without the need to purchase channel bundles. Subscriptions include ITV Hub+, which offers live TV and ad-free catch up episodes for £3.99 per month; MGM, offering a wide range of movies for £4.49 per month; Discovery for £4.99 per month; Eurosport Player, offering live and on-demand sports programming for £6.99 per month; and many more.

“For the first time, Prime members in the UK and Germany will be able to choose to watch premium TV channels without having to sign up to a bundle or a contract, giving them the freedom to pay for only what they want to watch,” said Alex Green, MD for Europe at Amazon Channels. “From live sport to Bollywood, arthouse cinema to reality TV, and award-winning TV shows from popular channels like Discovery and ITV, Amazon Channels gives power back to customers to choose exactly what they want to watch.”

The launch of Amazon Channels in the UK and Germany follows on from its launch in the US, which gave American Prime members access to over 100 channel subscriptions including HBO, Showtime, and Cinemax.
