Amazon Prime members can now get their packages delivered to their garage

Eligible Amazon Prime customers are now able to get their deliveries placed inside of their garages, as long as they have Key for Garage and a myQ Smart Garage Hub by Chamberlain Group (CGI). To take advantage of the service, Prime members must select “In-Garage Deliver” at the Amazon check out page. Using the Key for Garage app, customers can also control their garage door and remotely open or close it.

“We know it is important to keep innovating to make delivery as convenient as possible for customers, which is why we’re excited to now have Key for Garage available,” said Rohit Shrivastava, GM of Key by Amazon. “Today, we are thrilled to open Key by Amazon to millions of Prime members who can now have their Amazon packages delivered securely to their garages. With this new option, members can truly unlock the convenience of the Amazon experience.”

To use Key for Garage, Amazon members must combine their Amazon accounts with their CGI myQ-connected garage door opener. If members don’t have the technology yet, they can purchase the myQ Smart Garage Hub, myQ-connected Chamberlain or LiftMaster Wi-Fi garage door opener for a discounted price. Customers can also add the Amazon Cloud Cam (Key Edition), so they can get a livestream of their garage or clips from when packages are delivered.

“A recent survey found 72 per cent of Americans who live in a house or townhome take extra measures to ensure delivery acceptance of their packages, including staying home from work to wait for the package,” said Jeff Meredith, CGI president and chief operating officer. “With Key by Amazon, homeowners no longer have to reorganize their life to receive packages. Key plus myQ smart garage access gives homeowners control over the package delivery process while offering a safe and convenient destination for unattended package delivery.”

Amazon’s existing Key technology includes Key for Home, Key for Car, and Key for Business. Using the feature, customers are able to remotely unlock or lock their property, and set up a schedule for allowing expected visitors to enter their homes without being present.
