Amazon has launched a takeaway delivery service as part of its Amazon Local platform.
Local, which lists a range of daily deals in the users area in a way not dissimilar to Groupon, seems like an odd place to nesting a takeaway feature.
However, this is still a very minor rollout – the service is currently only available in Amazons home turf of Seattle. According to a TechCrunch report, 20 restaurants in the city are signed up for home delivery, on top of the 110 which support the pre-existing collection option.
With Uber trialling its own delivery service in Washington DC, could local delivery turn out to be the next background for mCommerce companies?
