Digital web agency 3 Sided Cube is celebrating the successful launch of an eye test iPhone app for optical company Essilor. Users download the app to their phone to check the quality of their eyesight.
The agency created an engaging app was created whereby a robot narrator guides users through a series of tests that examine the clarity of the user’s eyesight. At the end of the test, a guideline result is given that indicates whether a full eye test is needed. In this case, the app flags up the user’s nearest Varilux specialist optician supplying Essilor lenses.
Since the application was launched in the iTunes store on 9 July, it has received more than 50,000 downloads in just three weeks. It also became the number one medical app to be downloaded within the app store in just two days.
3 Sided Cube managing director Duncan Cook feels that mobile apps have the power to transform businesses. “There is no other platform on earth that can give you as big a reach almost instantly as a mobile app, he says. “The sheer volume of downloads that this app has received in such a short space of time is astonishing.”
Justin Rocyn-Jones, head of marketing at Essilor UK adds: “We’ve been amazed with the success of the app, you certainly could not achieve this response with a website in such a short period of time. Much of this success is due to the quality and insight 3 Sided Cube brought to this project.”
