Android 5.0 Due October?

Version 5.0 of Android (aka Key Lime Pie) is reportedly on the way in late October.

According to VR-Zonethe updated OS will be better optimised to run on lower-end devices, including those with just 512MB of RAM – for a quick comparison, consider that the Samsung Galaxy S4 has four times as much RAM, at 2GB.

In the meantime, we can apparently expect the release of version 4.3 next month.

Skipping to the next integer, rather than just moving on by a decimal point, should indicate a serious overhaul of the platform. With Apple dubbing iOS 7, due around the same time, “the most significant iOS update since the original iPhone”, could we be looking at a fresh start for the mobile OS wars come autumn?
