Google has revealed that its partners are selling more than 100,000 new Android-based handsets every day, while the number of active Android developers is up to 180,000, and there are now more than 50,000 apps available in Android Market, a 32 per cent increase in the past month.
At yesterday’s annual I/O developer conference, Google also took the wraps off Android 2.2. Codenamed ‘Froyo’. The latest update to the Android platform adds portable hotspot functionality, and support for Flash within the browser.
Android, it would appear, is well and truly on the march.
