Android handsets are selling at the rate of 200,000 a day, Google believes. The figure was revealed by Google CEO Eric Schmidt at the Techonomy conference in Lake Tahoe earlier this week.
“People are finally beginning to figure out how successful Android is,” Schmidt said. “The number was about 100,000 (per day) about two months ago. It looks like Android is not just phenomenal, but incredibly phenomenal in its growth rate.”
Schmidt told the conference that the search revenue Google is making from people doing searched on Android devices is “large enough to pay for all of Androids activities and a whole bunch more.” He added that Google also loves the success the iPhone has enjoyed, as searches on the iPhone also generate revenue for Google.
