Android to Power 48 Per Cent of All Computing Devices Sold in 2014

Sales of mobile phones will reach 1.9bn units in 2014, according to Gartner figures, up 3.1 per cent from last year.
Smartphones account for 66 per cent of those sales, a proportion Gartner predicts will rise to 88 per cent by 2018. 
Even more impressively, 48 per cent of the total 2.4bn computing devices sold this year will run Android – and by next year, with a predicted 1.4bn sales, Android will be bigger than iOS, Windows, Mac OS, and all other computing platforms put together.
