Apadmi Launches C-Caller Caller ID Solution

Apadmi has launched it C-Caller app to improve Caller ID features for visually impaired mobile users.

The Manchester-based app developer worked in conjuction with ClearCaller on the app, which is integrated into the C-Caller.com website to deliver Caller ID icons that offer simpler visibility.

The software can generate an image constructed of one or two letters from the mobile phone contact list, or a special icon, such as a car to represent a taxi, or a red cross or tooth to represent a doctor or dentist, says Apadmi. This is then used as a Caller ID image to clearly indicate who is making an incoming call, even on the smallest-sized mobile phone screen. Users can select from up to six colours for each ID icon.

Apadmis CEO, Garry Partington, comments, “There are 4bn mobile handsets in the world with small screens that are difficult for people with poor sight to clearly read. C-Caller is aimed primarily at the 50-plus age group with failing eyesight, offering a tailor-made solution that provides an all-round better mobile experience.”

Partington also says the app could be useful for people who need reading glasses, or business people using who want to see whos calling them at a glance. “Apadmi worked with ClearCaller to design, build, test and integrate a unique, private and secure system, which is compatible with 80 percent of handsets,” he says.

ClearCaller director Simon Marks says the technology developed by Apadmi for C-Caller will provide clarity for mobile users who have small displays and give those with sight issues the ability to easily recognise the people who call them and those they call.

C-Caller has been approved by the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB).
