App Annie Acquires Appscotch for Ad Analytics

App Annie AppScotchApp Annie has acquired app marketing data company AppScotch for an undisclosed sum.

AppScotch provides in-app advertising data, with a focus on increased transparency across publishers and ad networks. App Annie seems to be acquiring the company in order to improve its advertising metrics, on top of the app download and usage data it already has.

“Since 2014, we have been working hard to bring transparency into the world of mobile advertising,” said AppScotch CEO and co-founder Andrey Kazakov. “As the mobile advertising economy grows, we believe there will be an increasing need for competitive marketing information. Joining App Annie allows us to scale our technology and complement one of the the industry’s most trusted providers of app market data, enabling more insights for more companies.”

The news follows a recent $63m (£44m) funding round for App Annie this January, and is the companys third acquisition in the past two years. In 2014, it bought out competitor Distimo and last year acquired mobile measurement firm Mobidia.
