App Enables Bud Light Drinkers to Order Beer with Tap of a Button

BL-Button-WSJ_image-v1-1024x640Anheuser-Busch has launched a Bud Light-branded app in the Washington DC area that enables users to order beer to their homes with the tap of a button, with delivery within an hour.

The brewing company has partnered with digital innovation agency AKQA and delivery firm Klink to deliver the app and accompanying delivery service. The app, which is currently available on Android, with an iOS version in the pipeline, tracks users current locations, so when they order between one and 100 cases of beer, the Klink delivery service can easily find them.

The app enables users to scan credit cards for easy repeat purchases, and is part of Bud Lights current Up For Whatever marketing campaign. In addition to delivering beer, the company will provide spontaneous, exciting experiences for random customers.

“Some people will get just a little something extra, like Bud Light-branded gear, but once in a while, were going to deliver a really over-the-top, amazing experience,” said Lucas Herscovici, vice president of consumer connections at Anheuser-Busch. “Maybe that means we show up with a DJ who turns your gathering of friends into an amazing event. The only way to find out for sure what were going to do is to grab your phone and use the Bud Light Button.”
