App Store Cuts Approval Time to Less Than Two Days

iPad-Apple-App-Store-iOSThe average approval time of an iOS app submitted to the App Store has been cut to 1.6 days – compared to an average of 8.6 days a year ago.

The submission time has been consistently falling since March, when the average peaked at 4.7 days.

These figures come from AppReviewTimes, which gathers together data submitted by app developers.

The slow pace of App Store approvals has long been a headache for developers looking to quickly update their iOS apps, but this cut brings it closer in line with the Google Play Store, where apps can be released more or less immediately.

It may be part of Apples increased focus on its Services software business, which was a bright spot of the companys most recent financial results. Against the first-ever drop in iPhone sales, Apple reported a 20 per cent increase for its ‘services’ department in Q2, making it the second biggest revenue stream for the company.
