iPhone users in the EU, Canada and Norway can expect to pay more for their apps going forward, after Apple raised prices in these territories. Prices in Iceland will decrease, however, while in Russia prices will “change” though Apple has not revealed in which direction.
The move was announced in a note sent by Apple to members of the iTunes Connect developer community on Wednesday, with the changes due to take effect within 36 hours. It was revealed in a post on AppleInsider after one of the blog’s readers passed it a copy of the note.
According to the note, Apple is raising and lowering prices to account for localized value-added tax (VAT) changes and foreign exchange rates, with the latter the more likely driver in territories where there have been no changes to VAT rates.
