Appboy, a customer relationship management platform for apps, has raised $7.6m in Series A Funding in what it says was an oversubscribed round.
Appboy provides a dashboard for app publishers to improve acquisition and retention of users. The company helps marketers profile their audience and then re-engage them with push, in-app and email messages, as well as an in-app news feed and customer support system.
Appboy boasts a ‘Success Squad’, who they say can help ensure success with campaign conversion rates regularly above 30 per cent. The company says: “App marketers must radically shift their approach from buying ads and driving installs to managing their mobile audience.”
Appboy has seen 400 per cent growth in the last nine months and has more than 1,000 clients, including Urban Outfitters and Bloomberg. The round was led by Icon Venture Partners, with participation from Buddy Media CEO Mike Lazerow and IDG Ventures, along with existing seed investors.
The funds will be used to build Appboys sales and marketing team, expand its product offering and build its presence in key verticals so it can become the ExactTarget for mobile apps. The company is also redesigning its website and offering new pricing tariffs for smaller dev houses.
