Apple has overtaken Nokia and Samsung as the most popular ad-serving device maker, according to InMobis ad network figures.
InMobi has reported remarkable growth in Apple ad impressions during May. The May 2011 edition of the Mobile Insights Report: Europe Edition, put together by InMobi monthly, shows that during May 2011, over 80m ad impressions were served on Apples iPad devices in Europe. The iPad is now the sixth most popular mobile device in Europe, and has helped Apple surpass all other manufacturers in share of ad impressions, taking it to the number one position with a 19.5 per cent share, says InMobi.
The Android OS has lost a 6.1 per cent share on InMobis ad network against Apples gain of 6.3 per cent in the last three months. Android remains the top OS in terms of ad requests.
Rob Jonas, VP and MD Europe and Middle East at InMobi, says: “Whilst industry debate still rages, we see Apple iPad and other tablet devices firmly as mobile. Their usage patterns and characteristics are comparable to smartphone platforms, but with the additional screen real estate that allows truly engaging mobile advertising creative.”
The report also found that total advertising impressions on the InMobi network are up 38 percent in the May report.
