Apple Back on the Warpath

While its legal battle with Nokia continues, Apple has filed a lawsuit against HTC for infringing on 20 Apple patents related to the iPhones user interface, underlying architecture and hardware. The lawsuit was filed concurrently with the US International Trade Commission (ITC) and in US District Court in Delaware.
Apple is fighting a legal battle with Nokia on two fronts. In October last year, Nokia filed a complaint against Apple, alleging that the iPhone infringes Nokia patents for GSM, UMTS and wireless LAN (WLAN) standards. Two months later, Apple responded by filing a countersuit claiming that Nokia had infringed 13 of Apple's own patents.
Commenting on the HTC lawsuit, Apple CEO Steve Jobs said: We can sit by and watch competitors steal our patented inventions, or we can do something about it. Weve decided to do something about it. We think competition is healthy, but competitors should create their own original technology, not steal ours.
