Apple brings PayPal to App Store, Apple Music and iTunes for the first time

Apple has introduced PayPal as a payment method for App Store, Apple Music, iTunes and iBooks.

Customers can tie PayPal’s One Touch system to their Apple ID accounts, in order to make purchases not only on iOS but Apple TV and Apple Watch.  After the two have been linked, future purchases will default to the PayPal account.

“This provides a secure and versatile payment method to meet the growing demand for digital entertainment,” said Bill Ready, EVP, COO, PayPal. “PayPal’s availability across Apple’s services further expands our vision of providing customers a variety of ways to easily make mobile purchases, such as asking Siri to make a payment using the PayPal app.”

PayPal support is initially rolling out in Canada and Mexico, with other countries – including the US – promised soon after.

Don’t forget to enter the Effective Mobile Marketing Awards. The Early Bird deadline for submissions is 22 July. More details here.
