Apple leaks, insider product news and Siri

AppleAs we prepare for Apple’s week-long Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) and the big news that the tech giant is expected to reveal, there is plenty of news both surrounding this year’s event and potential future ones.

Firstly, according to an alleged Foxconn insider, Apple’s AR glasses that are being developed under ‘Project Mirrorshades’ have a 65 per cent chance of not being around in 2018/2019.

According to the Reddit user, the Apple Iris will consist of “Kopin NED Acetate frame Polarisized or prescription lens with Zeiss smart optics, Bone conduction modules Microphones (noise cancellation), Light sensor Accelerometer for step tracking and head movement app navigation, Magnetometer for navigation, Capacitive Pavel Ceramic battery, Apple chipset, [and] Charging circuit BL5 Induction module.”

In addition, the insider claimed that the production of the iPhone 8 – or iPhone X, as the user refers to it as – and the Apple home speaker have both been delayed.

Moving away from the negativity surrounding several delays, Apple is expected to announce plans for its Siri voice assistant to work with a variety of apps but, according to Reuters, will look to focus on a small amount of features, rather than casting a wide net like Amazon has done with Alexa.

Finally, Apple is preparing to launch a file management app for iOS 11.0 or later. The news was uncovered by developer Steve Troughton-Smith, who discovered a placeholder entry for a ‘Files’ app on the App Store.

A lot of news surrounding Apple there, and can only expect plenty more over the next week at WWDC.
