Apple Posts Q4 Revenues of $42.1bn

Apples Q4 revenues were boosted by sales of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus

Apple surpassed analyst expectations in revealing Q4 2014 revenues of $42.1bn (£26bn) late last night, a 13 per cent rise on the Q4 2013 figure of $37.5bn.

The figures were boosted by the launch of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, which went on sale 10 days before the end of the quarter, and which clocked up sales of 10m units in the first three days.

Apple sold a total of 39.3m phones in the quarter, though iPad sales disappointed, down to 12.3m units, compared to 13.3m in the year ago quarter.

Net profits were $8.47bn, which was also a 13 per cent increase on the Q4 2013 figure of $7.5bn.
