Apple sold over 1.7m iPhone 4s within the first three days of its launch last Thursday. Thats more than half a million each day, to save you doing the maths. The handset is currently available in the US, UK, France, Germany and Japan, and will be in an additional 18 countries by the end of July.
In announcing the figures, Apple CEO Steve Jobs said: “This is the most successful product launch in Apple’s history. Even so, we apologise to those customers who were turned away because we did not have enough supply.”
But no apology for the problem some users have been having with the signal disappearing if they hold the phone in a certain way. Last week, Jobs advised an iPhone 4 user who described the problem to him in an email to: “just avoid holding it in that way”.
