App monetization and distribution platform Appnext has acquired AppHome, a developer of social apps and games, for $2.5m (£1.5m).
Appnext is integrating proprietary technology from AppHome to create an open access API for its platform.
Appnext offers an app promotion engine developers and publishers, as well as a native ad platform, which can be used to create ads which can be customised to any app’s UX and design so they can be integrated directly into an app – as part of a game’s scoreboard, for example, or into a reminder in a productivity app.
“Having partnered with AppHome, we grew to appreciate the team and their technology, and felt that bringing them into Appnext made the most strategic sense,” said Elad Natanson, founder, Appnext. “It’s AppHome’s technology which lets us create an open access API to our platform, and enable each of our partners to develop unique monetization tools around our app promotion engine. Since we implemented this technology, we have already served over 1bn app recommendations through our media partners alone in the last few months.”
