Arcadia Commits Five More Brands to Tablet

After seeing 250 per cent growth in mobile sales last year – now making up third of online vists and a quarter of revenue – Arcadia has announced the launch of five iPad apps for Topman, Burton, Dorothy Perkins, Evans and Wallis.

The apps are being developed by Red Ant, which created the Groups Topshop iPad app in 2012. They will launch in May with Android versions promised for the summer. The Group hopes to build on the success seen with its Arcadia’s portfolio of iOS apps, which took more than £3m in sales over the Christmas period.

All of the apps will come with access to Arcadia’s new collect from store service. Users will be able to browse the brands catalogues both online and offline, purchase products, find them in a nearby store or add them to a wish list. They can also scan barcodes to find products in store.

“Given the huge rise in customers using different devices, developing our mobile and tablet channels is a key focus for Arcadia,” Henry Firth, group customer experience manager at Arcadia said. “As well as rolling out iPad and Android apps, we’re also working on a best-in-class mobile web experience.”

Dan Mortimer, Red Ant’s CEO, added: “The future of digital commerce depends on retail breaking down barriers to purchase, and Arcadia is pioneering this in the UK.”
